The left bank : the Médoc

Médoc means "in the middle of the water": to the west the Atlantic and to the east the Gironde.
In Blaye and Royan, it is possible to take the ferry (for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists) to reach the Médoc on the opposite bank.
It is in fact on the left bank of the Gironde estuary that the Médoc vineyards run, with world-famous appellations: Mouton Rothschild, Laffitte, Latour, Margaux...
